My grandfather, Sidney Kirschner, traded a pack of cigarettes for a camera on his way to Germany as a soldier in WWII.
He has been documenting his life in photographs ever since.
Dachau, Germany. July, 1945.
Quiet little area isn’t it? Dachau concentration camp headquarters building. The “factory” is off to the right - behind the building shown.
This photograph was taken 3 months after the survivors of Dachau were liberated.
